It’s a beautiful morning.
The sun is shining, the air is fresh, and I’m already done with most of my work for the day.
Now, before you assume I’m some sort of productivity monster, let me stop you right there. My secret isn’t about being superhuman.
I’m simply following my Flow Creator system, which guides me towards my goals.
We often already know what we need to do.
The problem isn’t knowledge. It’s execution.
We get caught up in thinking about future steps, worrying about what comes next—monetization strategies, creating the digital product—and losing focus on the one thing that actually matters:
Step one.
Take blogging as an example. Some people are busy thinking about monetizing their blogs when they haven’t even created a website yet!
They imagine sponsored content and brand deals before even picking a niche. It sounds ridiculous when you say it out loud, but this is what happens when we focus on steps two, three, and four before nailing down step one.
I’ve been guilty of this myself.
After some serious reflection, I realized that while I was thinking ahead to step three or four in my business, I wasn’t doing step one properly.
Burning energy but getting nowhere.
That’s where the idea of Flow really clicked for me—proven systems for getting stuff done effortlessly in less time.
This works for making money online and your health, wealth, and general happiness.
Focus on the step right in front of you. Just one step, executed perfectly, before moving on to the next.
This is the simple beauty of working sequentially from a checklist.
Why Sequential Steps Work
When you commit to doing things in order, a few magical things happen.
You build momentum.
You accomplish one thing, and then you move on to the next. It’s simple but powerful.
Focusing on one task forces your attention to where it’s needed — It anchors you.
When you’re building a personal brand or online business, there’s no one looking over your shoulder.
You have the freedom to do anything, which is both a blessing and a curse, and why clear focus is absolutely necessary.
It’s easy to drift and spend time on the wrong things. And time, my friends, is our most precious resource.
You simply can’t do step two until you’ve mastered step one.
This also eliminates overwhelm.
When you have a roadmap—Step 1, Step 2, Step 3, and so on—you can stop stressing about everything else and just get to work.
And as I touched on previously, it forces you to gain momentum by finishing the first task before moving on.
It becomes like driving a car—soon, the process becomes so automatic that you don’t even think about it anymore.
Guarding Your Attention
Another huge benefit is that it pulls your attention in.
These days, our minds are naturally drawn towards chaos, or what some people call entropy.
It’s the mental equivalent of clutter.
This is deadly if you’re in any kind of creative online business. Just think about how most people start their mornings:
- You wake up, grab your phone, and check notifications.
- Maybe you scroll through social media or watch a quick reel.
- Before you know it, you’ve been sucked into YouTube for an hour.
The mind becomes scattered, and attention is going in a million different directions.
This is why having a plan and sticking to the steps is so important. Sequential steps help you pull your attention in, like a net reining in all the scattered pieces of your focus, directing it toward one specific goal.
Mentorship
This is also why I believe having a mentor is a non-negotiable must-have (if that’s even a word).
A mentor has already walked the path you’re on. They can see from a mile away if you’re running in the wrong direction or wasting time on the wrong things.
I’m a coach, consultant, mentor, and friend to my clients.
But right now, I’m also in a mentoring group with daily calls.
These aren’t accountability calls—they’re focused on the simple execution of a daily checklist.
Step 1, Step 2, Step 3—nothing more, nothing less. If anyone starts to drift, they’re pulled back in line.
Relentless focus on the steps is the key to success.
So if you find yourself going in circles or feeling overwhelmed by all the things you think you should be doing, take a step back.
Ask yourself, what is step one?
Focus there. Master that. Only then, move on to the next.
This is how you make progress and how you get out of a rut so you can move closer to achieving your goals.
Keeping It Simple
This sequential focus is how I’ve been able to sit on my balcony this morning, at 10 a.m., with a week’s worth of content already done.
I’ve finished my most important tasks for the day, and now I can relax, introduce some “entropy” into my life, learn new things, and hang out with friends which I plan to do.
The work is done — and I want this for you too.
This is one of the things I help you with inside of Flow Creators.
Before long, you’ll find yourself moving effortlessly through your days, getting the right things done, and enjoying more freedom in your life.
Until next time,
— Chris
